Join our self-drive tag-along tour to Dingly Dell, an ancient Adnyamathanha site which has a number of engravings dating back as far as 40,000 years ago.  Immerse yourself in amazing stories of our people’s ancient history on this land, and how we lived with ancient pre historic animals which have a connection with our Muda/history.

A short leisurely walk will be had through the carving site with an Adnyamathanha guide who will share traditional knowledge on bush tucker, bush medicines, plants, animals of significance and Adnyamathanha Muda (history) mythology/creation stories.

Chambers Gorge

Mt Chamber is one of the most significant ancient cultural sites for Adnyamathanha people.  It has a great deal of mythological importance and it is one of the largest galleries of traditional rock art in the Flinders Ranges, which are predominately petroglyphs. 

Your tag-along tour will begin with a welcoming, traditional smoking ceremony that will take you back in time.  This immersive experience deepens your appreciation and understanding of the Adnyamathanha culture within the Flinders Ranges. 

Enjoy a taste of tradition at morning rea time with our freshly brewed billy tea and homemade dampers, cooked over an open flame and served with Quandong jam – a local bush tucker treat.  This unique experience promises to connect you to the ancient customs and flavours of the Adnyamathanha culture.

Gain an insightfulglimpse into traditional medicinal plants and bush tucker and enjoy the priviledge of following one of the most reveres storylines connected to ancestral beings, known as Valnapa/Vudlabilla.  You’ll find youself walking in the footsteps of the ancients, experiencing their wisdom and spritual connection to the earth.

Arkaroo rock is a beautiful rock shelter with traditional ochre and charcoal paintings in the shadow of Ikara (wilpena pound) surrounded by rugged mountain ranges that depicts the Yura Muda (creation story) of Ikara.

Set out with Wadna on a journey to discover a secluded and significant site of Adnyamathanha heritage – the Glass Gorge Cultural Art Site.

The tour commences with a smoking Welcome to Country ceremony, a traditional Adnyamathanha practice, before heading out on foot along a picturesque creek bed, for a 45 minute walk through stunning, undulating countryside. This tranquil walk is not just a passage through nature, but a step back in time, as you tread paths woven in history and tradition.

Glass Gorge is renowned for its remarkable display of Petroglyphs – ancient rock etchings that tell timeless tales.  These symbols are etched into stone are a testament to the rich cultural legacy of the Adnyamathanha people.

The journey is enriched by the sites of scar trees and ancient artifacts, each with its own story to tell, offering a unique glimpse into the traditional practices and daily life of the Adnyamathanha ancestors.  As you explore, you will encounter various types of bush tucker.  This is an opportunity to understand and appreciate the sustainable and harmonious ways the Adnyamathanha people have interacted with their environment for generations.

As a memento of your journey, you will receive a special gift of bush medicine. This token is not just a souvenir, but a symbol of the healing and spiritual wisdom of the Adnyamathanha culture.
